Les Vacances

We took a mini trip to Florida.  We went to a place we had never been to before.  Englewood, Florida

My girls went to the beach.

Chuy did not like sleeping in the big bed.  Big sister did not improve the situation.

We spent Thanksgiving with a lovely family.

Chuy kept asking for, "Beach."

The Tooth Fery

So kidlet told me that she was going to write a note to the Tooth Fairy.

This is what she wrote:

This is what it says:

Tooth fery can you give me more than one doller?

I'll put some mony for you.

and then she taped 2 dimes and five pennies onto the sheet as well as a Ziploc baggie with her tooth.

So the tooth fairy gave her two dollars.

This is why I had to have two kids.

I asked Chuy what she was doing and she gave me a serious look and barked, "Homework."

Copy Cat

This is Chuy observing her sister's pose.

This is her imitating her sister's pose.

Made me chuckle.

Chuy is very interested in other babies.  At the grocery store, she spied a baby in another grocery cart.  She yelled baby and he turned to look our way.  He was a sick little baby.  He had an eye patch and a feeding tube in his nose.

Chuy saw this and yelled, "ARGH" like a pirate.  The other mom laughed and I did too.

Wearing My Ass Out

As I get older, my ass is disappearing.  I think running after my kids is what is happening.

WAAAAAAAH and Aw Maw Nah

Last week this little old Korean lady was walking past my garden as I was driving to pick Kidlet up from school.  I rolled the window down and said hello.

She spoke only Korean and asked me if she could have a squash.  I told her that I had to get my child from school but if she came back I would be happy to give her some squash.  I said this in Korean and honestly it made my brain hurt a little bit.  Those muscles have not been used in a while.

So tonight she showed up with a 30 something Korean man in tow.  This man is not her son, he is the roommate of her son who lives in the apartments across the street.  So the woman comes into my yard and picks what she wants.  I give her three squashes, some peppers, tomatoes and eggplants.

She sees my big green squash and says WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH AW MAW NAH!

Which is an exclamation of WOW in Korean.  What was funny was it was the same expression my parents used when they saw big green.

Then she offered me money for the squash and I refused.  Then she gave me a dollar and I accepted because I did not want to insult her.  Her name was Ock, which is my mother's name.

Yohboh being yohboh found it completely normal that a random Korean person that I did not know would just show up and ask for vegetables.

Rolls with whatever, my husband does.

I love them both.

Level Three Lockdown

On Friday and today, kidlet's school did a Level Three Lockdown drill.

What is a Level Three Lockdown?  When a gunman enters the school.  Right now, my heart hurts knowing that I am raising kids in a world where my six year old has an emergency plan if someone comes in with a gun into her school.

Right now, my kids are playing in the backyard. Practicing what to do if there is a Level Three Lockdown at home.
