This is the face of today.

Someone did not like spending the night away from her bed.

But her big sister made it better.

Green Belt

Kidlet got her green belt in Tae Kwon Do.   She kicked a little girl in the head and got kicked back.  FUNNY!

Imaginary Beds

The girls pretended to be in bed watching TV.

They made beds out of the coffee table and a bean bag chair.  It made them happy.

Yohboh's least favorite poop

Yohboh recently changed a diaper during our beach trip.

During a beach visit earlier in the day, Chuy ate sand.  I tried to stop her but as soon as my back was turned she would swallow some more.  At the beach, she ate a pint of blueberries.

The following morning a navy blue paste of that was reminiscent of cement came out of her butt.

Yohboh brought it up a few times afterwards, it was so unpleasant.  It required TWO washings of soap and water but when we got home a thorough bath was involved.

Her Cheese Face

Playdate Blues

This is the face of someone who had a play date with her three friends.  She whined and cried the whole time.  WHY DOES SHE DO THIS?

Recognizing Anguish

Chuy, Kidlet and I were at the library during story time last week when a little girl had a tantrum.  Kidlet ignored it because that is what Chuy does all the time.

Chuy stopped and stared at the little girl and offered her a hug.

It is interesting to me that in adult situations, very few people recognize anguish and pain.  Yet a toddler knows what to do.

Family Picture

Mommy, it is time for our nightly family picture.

I love my kid so much.

It should not be like this

This article is why the health care system needs an overhaul.  You have no idea what anything costs.

And what is interesting for me is that the birth of my first child was 16K in total bills.  I had a C section.

I had a C section with my second child as well.  It was 56K,  Four and a half years later.  And this was the hospital my husband worked for.

Why is this so fucked?  Because it stopped being about a patient and a doctor.  It became about patient coordinators, billing specialist, insurance coordinators and more -ists and -oors.  They gotta get paid too. And I do not blame the Brown Mackie College graduates for the situation.  I do not blame anyone but it needs to be fixed.

Think about the last time you went to the doctor.  Count the number of heads you see before you see your doctor.  The last time I took the kids to the doctor, we saw six heads before the doctor.  They asked the same questions over and over again.  And so did the doctor.

Playing in the hallway

Neighbor Weirdness

We have had very bad luck with our neighbors.

We do have a nice neighbor who we give a lot of veggies from the garden to.  He loves to come over and weed the garden.  So I like him a lot.

And the woman who lives next to him is very nice, but a bit wordy.

The neighbors who lives two doors from them are a different story.

There is a woman who is in her late fifties/early sixties who I will call Scarlett.

A few weeks ago,  I am in the garden, doing whatever the hell I do in the garden and I see Scarlett walking by with a three month old baby in a stroller.  The baby is in a the stroller/car seat combo thing and looks like it is about to fall out of the stroller.

My mom instinct kicks in and I walk over and tell Scarlett that she has the baby in the stroller wrong.    Scarlett tells me that she knows and she cannot figure out for the life of her how to put the baby in.  Imagine wringing of hands.  Turns out, she had the baby in the stroller backwards.

So I fix that for her and we have a bit of a chat about who she is, why she lives with her boyfriend in the house of the boyfriend's mother who died recently, how the house is going into foreclosure, and who the baby is.  The baby is her friends's grandchild that she is watching.

I am about to bid her adieu get back in the garden when she asks me if I have any diapers.  Because apparently, the mother of the child did not leave any diapers when she dropped the baby off two hours ago.  And Scarlett was going to use a bread bag and some tube socks.

So I say, sure and go to my car and pull out my spare diaper bag and give her all the diapers that are in there.  Granted, they are size four and my 21 month old but they are better than a tube sock.

Then Scarlett asks, "Do you have any wipes?'

So I give the travel wipes that are in my spare diaper bag.

She thanks me profusely and is on her merry way.

Last week, her boyfriend who I will call Rhett is out and about 9:30 at night pushing the baby in an umbrella stroller.    I am putting out the compost.

He says, "Hi neighbor!" and proceeds to push the stroller onto my property.  I did not invite him.  He proceeds to tell me how awesome my garden is and that he would LOVE a tour.

I decline and say I am going to bed.

But I do add that the baby, whose name I know and use, needs to go inside because it is currently swarming with mosquitoes.

Rhett is surprised that I know the baby's name and asks how I do as he has not named him.  I mention that I have met Scarlett.

And then wish him a good night.
