Wearing Mommy's socks

I find this look adorable.

She really looks like her daddy.

Joy to the world
All the boys and the girls
Joy to the fishies in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

Give it UP, playa!

Droning on and on

Remember my long winded neighbor?

I had run to the grocery store to get some salt and pepper. That was it. Okay, if you must know it was Kosher salt and whole peppercorns.

I ran into my long winded neighbor. I left my house at 1:30 and have just returned because she would not stop talking. I started to walk away and she kept talking. She followed me down the aisle and KEEPS TALKING.

Don't you wish you could just be rude without consequence?

I would have said, "SHUT UP YOU OLD HAG. "

Thanks, Internet for reading. I feel much better.

Preschool Open House

Today Ava was class leader because I had to bring in the snack. Her class had pumpkin muffins, Elmo juice (apple juice), goldfish crackers and letter cookies. This means she has the special seat and gets to be first in line all day.

Then this evening, we had open house. Yohboh, Gaga and I went.

I live an Ava centric life.

Ava is a happy little girl.

Ray Charles sings the alphabet

Skinned Knee

Ava skinned her knee this evening. Blood, snot and dirt and lots of tears. And green Jello. And a band aid.

Song that is stuck in my head

I like Idina Menzel in Glee but Tracie Thoms voice in this song rocks.

So yohboh has a new car.
I have dubbed the car Rio as in cabRIOlet.

When riding in Rio, I always wear sunglasses and have a hair elastic.

Gaga: Ava, I am going to go outside to smoke, do you want to come?
Ava: Gaga, I don't smoke.

We went to get some apples and play today. Ava liked it very much.

Yohboh and I have been married for six years. I like being married to yohboh.

Also, Jimi Hendrix shirt.

Is an ass load greater than a shit load? What about a butt load?

Ava: Mommy, the boys at my school are too shy. They don't talk.

Call ahead

Yohboh: If you call before you come over, I will put pants on. If you just show up, I do not.

So if you want to see what underwear yohboh is wearing DO NOT CALL AHEAD before coming over.

Ava had soccer today.

Remembering and Thinking

September 11 is the first real tragedy that ever ripped me inside. It made me think about believing in God because maybe that would have been a comfort. I was angry at our then president for not knowing what to do. His vice president, his national security advisor all had ideas but he sat and read to children The Pet Goat while the country was being attacked. Being president means you know what to do. I cannot forgive people who want the power and then do not know what to do. I still can't.

The thing that makes me tear up, the thing that just breaks me is the fact that on United Flight 93, the one that crashed in Pennsylvania, the one where 40 people died fighting back the crazy, sad confused men who wanted to kill them was before they took action, the passengers and crew decided to take a vote on what to do.

In the face of certain death, these brave people took a vote. It was their first action as a group.

Democracy works.

America works.

Thank you brave passenger and crew of United Flight 93 for reminding us. And all the others who are gone from that sad sad day.

First Day of Preschool

Today was Ava's first day of preschool.

When I dropped her off she was so excited until I saw her in my rear view mirror and she was pouting because Mommy left.

Ava was so excited when I picked her up, "Mommy, mommy! I had so MUCH FUN!"

And afterwards she kept saying, "Criss cross, applesauce."

And she took a nap for the first time in a year.

Weird Week

Yohboh's car is totalled out.

I have a wicked eye infection that prevents me from wearing contact lenses. No contacts=no driving.

I don't know him

Ava had orientation for preschool today. It is a church preschool. Yohboh and I are not religious people but this school is close by and it has a good program. We met with the teachers today.

When we left, one teacher said, "Good bye, Ava. Jesus loves you."

Ava replied, "Why? I don't know him."

So Ava has had these scrubs since she was born. Someone gave them to us and now they fit. Doesn't she look cute?

A HUGE hit at yohboh's work today.

Here is my lovely niece Charlotte at 20 weeks, posing to highlight her newly acquired chubby rolls, which I adore. I love the fat roll on a baby.

Here is Ava and her auntie when Ava was 20 weeks old.
