Ava's Day

Ava says HI!

Ava looks just like my sister here.

Durty Baby Whisperer strikes again.

Her duckie bathrobe.

The Stupidest Damn Dog

So my dog Lola, has been sleeping under the guest bed. Last night, after yohboh visited a titty and a dickie bar, we had an overnight guest. My dog spent the night in the same room as the guest and did not notice.

Yesterday, Lola did not bark at the Jehovah's witness who CAME TO THE DOOR but she does bark at the UPS truck as it drives by.

Fucking stupid dog.

The Day After

Obviously, Ava has recovered.

Mommy, however, completely scarred. I did not know about puce.

Puce, the color past purple

Ava went to the doctor.

Eighteen pounds and 14 ounces.
About 27 inches.
She has doubled her birth weight in four months.

She had shots. She cried before the shots started. Her face turned puce, the color past purple.

It was agony.

Major Milestone

Ava and Daddy are lying on the couch when Ava just kicked him in the balls.

I know I should not laugh, but when is a kick in the balls NOT funny?

Panna Cotta

So I made this on Saturday and it was so good, I want to make it again. As Yohboh does not like desserts, I would have to eat it all. Not like that would be a hardship.

Panna Cotta (borrowed from the Barefoot Contessa, modified my minjenah)

1/2 packet (1 teaspoon) unflavored gelatin powder
1 1/2 tablespoons cold water
1 1/2 cups heavy cream, divided
1 cup plain whole-milk yogurt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons Trader Joe's Vanilla Paste

Raspberry Puree
Mango Puree

In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin on 1 1/2 tablespoons of cold water. Stir and set aside for 10 minutes to allow the gelatin to dissolve.

Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk together 3/4 cup of the cream, the yogurt, and vanilla paste. Heat the remaining 3/4 cup of cream and the 1/3 cup of sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Off the heat, add the softened gelatin to the hot cream and stir to dissolve. Pour the hot cream-gelatin mixture into the cold cream-yogurt mixture and stir to combine. Pour into 4 (6 to 8-ounce) ramekins or custard cups (I used little plastic cups) and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Serve with a bit of fruit puree on top.

Ava went to book club

Ava went to book club with me. All the ladies were lovely. Special thanks to E. for holding Ava so I could eat.

An Old Picture

I was cleaning up some photos and found this one taken in Macau last year in March. Or as I see it, another lifetime ago.

So before Grandma and Great Grandma came over for dinner, I was a little tired so I had a cup of iced coffee to perk me up.

It also perked Ava up. She went to bed half an hour ago.

Busy Day

Ava had dinner with her great Grandma.

Ava and only two of her toys.

Mommy got to eat well

One of the things about being a new mother is that I don't get to eat some of the best things when I do remember to eat. I have eaten far more hot dogs that I want to mention.

Today, however was an exception. I had sushi for lunch. Then I had a yummy dinner.

Ava having a bout of temper.

Ava grinning.

Ava in her high chair for the first time. She did not eat. She just played while mommy ate.

Ava sleeping. Notice her left hand. She likes to put in the fold between the mattress and the frame. She did this at birth. I wonder if she stuck her hand in my pelvic bone in the womb?

Yohboh will not be happy

Yohboh will not be happy I posted this photo. But for some reason, I think it looks like this photo:

Ava went to watch people eat mexican

Grandma dressed me.

Did you notice my shades match my outfit?

I smelled a flower.

Me and my daddy.

This is our vegetable garden. One of the tomato plants is growing like CRAZY. Why, you ask? Yohboh planted the placenta there.

I should note yohboh wanted me to blog about this.

One More

She looks so cute

Lots of Pix

This is a tree that broke in the front yard. Weird.

Ava is happy

Smiling Girl

She's a lady. She crosses her legs at the ankle.

Napping. Yohboh took this one.

Showing her lack of teeth.

A girl and her phone.

All the toys she needs.

This I believe

Corn chips are better than potato chips.

Corn chips can make a meal-NACHOS.

Corn chips have a better variety of dips:
cheese dip
bean dip

Corn chips have a better crunch factor.

People always eat the warm corn chips at any Mexican joint. Where are the warm potato chip restaurants?

I breast feed. I breast feed a LOT. I make 10 ounces of extra milk a day. I have been dutifully freezing it for what I have no idea.

Seasons of Love

The Rent song has been stuck in my head for the past three days. The original Broadway version, not the crap Chris Columbus movie (definitely a movie not a film).

My wide eyed pretty pretty babay.

My smiling baby

My wearing sunglasses much too large for her head baby

Books and Milestones

I got Ava a soft book. She thinks it is tasty.

I was doing my daily kissfest. What is a daily kissfest? I spent five minutes kissing my baby. Today, she held my face afterwards. I took this to mean, "I thoroughly enjoyed this activity. Let us engage in this activity again." In baby talk it sounds like this ,"WAAAAAAAAH Heh heh heh."

Monday Monday

Yohboh had the day off.
